Ps 97:10-12
10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
KJV
Isn’t it true that God is love? Isn’t it true that God loves everyone? Why then would I be commanded to hate? (Verse 10) Because God does not love everything neither will God accept everything or everyone. Yes God “So loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son”. That love is a true love, that love is a love that has been extended to all. But that love alone does not take away the sin of man, does not make everyone acceptable in the eyes of God. For that love to be applied to our lives one must repent, turn from sin, and turn to Jesus Christ. I then as a Christian must hate sin as God hates it, see sin as God sees it, I then because of the light of Christ within must hate evil. The best way to show the love of Christ to others is not to wink at their sin but to point them to the light of Jesus Christ. We need to rejoice in the righteousness of Christ and point people to Him, not go alone with sin.
