Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
KJV
Another reason people refuse to receive the Lord Jesus Christ is they have their minds blinded by Satan. Notice the text says minds, not eyes. People can see the world that we live in, see the creation of God, see the Christian living for Christ, see the difference Jesus can make in a life. They can see the abundant life of the Christian lived out right in front of them, they can see the evidence that the gospel is true. They also know that there is something missing in their lives, something they don’t have. They have a natural fear of death and the grave, yet they will not repent and be saved. Why? Minds have been blinded by Satan. How difficult it is to get through to someone in the grasp of Satan in this way, almost impossible. But it is not impossible for them to be reached by the gospel, for the Holy Spirit to convict them, not impossible for them to get saved for with God nothing is impossible. The Christian who has a burden for souls has a great mountain in front of them but praise God it is not a mountain we have to climb, God will take care of it, God is still in the business of saving souls.
