Matt 27:65-28:7
65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
28 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

As sure as ye can was not sure enough, Jesus arose from the grave and is alive today! Now we have hope of victory over the greatest enemy, death. Death came because of sin, death passes to each and every individual because we are sinners, sinners by birth and action. Because we are sinners we will die one day. If that were the end it would be acceptable, but it is not the end. The moment one dies they step into eternity, eternity in hell or heaven. Our place is hell because of sin. That sentence stops there because it is a death sentence and one that cannot be changed. But when Jesus Christ died He died for all sinners, He paid the price for our sin, our sentence was passed onto Him, He took our place. When He arose from the grave He conquered sin, death and the grave, He secured eternal salvation, now we have hope. That hope is not real in our lives until we repent of sin, confess that we are sinners to God, and receive by faith the free pardon of that sin through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. All of this is made sure by the empty tomb. Is the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave important, should it be preached? It made salvation real.
