Matt 3:16-17
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
KJV
What wonderful words are used by the Father concerning His Son, “My beloved Son”. Could it be possible that those same words be used of a born again child of God? If they were then what would cause God to utter them? Those words are used in the Bible of believers. (Rom 16:8-9 Greet Amplias my beloved in the Lord. (9) Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys my beloved. ; 1 Cor 4:14-17 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. (15) For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. (16) Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. (17) For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.) While this is not the voice of God it is the Word of God. Paul by inspiration uses the same words that the Father used concerning the Son. That would mean those ones were faithful, loving, kind, compassionate, burdened for souls, active in the service of God, and many more things I am sure that come to your minds. People like those ones, concerned more with spiritual things than worldly things, concerned more with Christ than with self, are few and far between, even in the ministry. Yet it is possible that if we sell out to God those words could be said of us in heaven. Let that be our focus today, to move God to call us His beloved.
