Matt 21:1-6
21 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,
2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,

So begins the record of the last few days of the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ. There are many miracles attached to the events of that week that we never pay much attention to, little things, but important things. The first of them securing this donkey for Jesus to ride on. Livestock was very valuable at that time, no matter what it was or how few of them. Here is something that was owned by someone else, would not be bought, only borrowed for a while. Prophecy stated that Jesus would enter Jerusalem riding on a donkey. The problem is that Jesus did not own one, neither did any of the disciples with Him, so one had to be borrowed. No explanation to the owner other that Jesus needed it, no deposit put down, just get the donkey. The great miracle here is that the disciples just obeyed without question. They did not ask for a backup plan, they had learned to obey. Was it a lesson they learned when Jesus fed the 4,000 or 5,000? Did they learn it when the blind man was commanded to go and wash the clay from his eyes? Did they learn it when the lame man was commanded to pick up his bed and walk? The point is that they learned. What is the miracle in that? How long did it take you, how long did it take me, how long will it take before God’s people learn to simply obey Him. When one learns that lesson it is a miracle considering how prone we are to disobedience.
