23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.It is good to be back home. We had a quick but good trip.
I had asked for all to read and meditate upon this Psalm. Sheep depend upon their shepherd for everything. The only way they flourish is when they abide under a caring shepherd. They need someone constantly looking out for them and when they do not follow in the shepherd’s care they do not do well. They are overtaken by disease or natural predators. They need someone looking out for them. No wonder the Christian is likened to sheep in the Bible. We need to place our lives under the constant care of the shepherd if we are going to flourish in this world. Jesus is call the good shepherd in John 15. Are you willing this morning to place your life under His care. Not know Him as savior but place your life in His hands, abide with the Good Shepherd. There is a difference. Just as any shepherd will tell you that he has wayward sheep so does Christ have the same. Is He your good shepherd today?
