10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
KJV
Another key to peace and joy in the Lord is learning to be content. Paul stated, and this is the inspired Word of God, that he was content. I talk to so many people who are far from being content. They are distressed by many different things, but they are far from being content. When these periods of discontentment come upon you, and they come upon all of us from time to time, remember what one needs to think upon. Think of who and what you are, think of the price that was paid so you could be a Christian, think of the love of Jesus Christ for you and think of all the good things He has done for you. Let the good things of God carry you over periods if discontentment. Paul knew how to be abased and he was still content. But notice that Paul also knew how to abound. Paul did not forget God during good times, did not forget to think on the things of God, Paul was content in Christ in all things at all times. Are you content with Christ in this world? If not then turn to the Lord in prayer, pick up your Bible and ask God to speak to you. Ask God to grant through His grace contentment in your life.
