4 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
2 And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?

Can there be revival in our day? It is a question that I hear often as a pastor, but it is not a new question. As Nehemiah went back to Jerusalem, sent by God, it was to do a work of revival. But how could that work be accomplished when the city had been in ruin for so long? The enemies of God asked the question at that time, “Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?” Nehemiah did just that but he did not do it alone or in his own power or might. I want to look this week at the revival sparked b God through Nehemiah and how it came about. We need first to go back to chapter one of Nehemiah. (Neh 1:2-4 2 That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. 3 And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire. 4 And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,) Nehemiah had a burden and that is the first step is seeing revival in our lives, families and churches, a burden for the Lord and the way things ought to be. Are you burdened for the things of God today? Before you say yes ask yourself if you are ever moved to tears by the conditions of the world, our churches and even your own family today. If that answer is no then you have no real burden, you have become satisfied with the status quo of society and so called Christianity today. Go to church once a week, pray when there is a need, never read the Bible, just float along on the stream of life. That is not Christianity. If you really want revival then begin today to ask God to give you a real burden for spiritual things. Without a burden there will be no revival.
