1 Thess 5:18
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

This is a very common Thanksgiving verse, I have preached messages using it many times myself. But how often does the truth of this verse elude the Christian? Can we truly say we give thanks for everything all the time? Can we truly say we are thankful for the will of God at all times? Can we like Daniel give praise and thanks to our God even as en of lions awaits us? Can we stand and give thanks to our God as the troubled sea of life is sending waves crashing down upon us? Can we sing praises in the jail cell as we wait not knowing what is going to happen next? I can list things I have to be thankful for all day, but I can also list the many times I don’t give thanks as I should. Be thankful today, for our God is good.
