1 Thess 5:17-18
Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
KJB
I talk to people who have been on medication for years. Some for pain. Some for heart, some for blood pressure, but they need to continue to take the medication, as they should. Each time they leave the doctors office with a new prescription they will say thank you, as they should. But when it comes to prayer that same attitude is often missing. Faced with a problem they say they pray, God does nothing about it, so they become bitter against God, complain, and turn away from God. Why not continue to pray? Most problems did not begin in an instant of time, so why do we expect them to be solved in an instant of time? Perhaps God want us to be faithful in prayer just as we are faithful to take medications. Perhaps God wants us to be thankful for what He has already done for us just as we are thankful for the doctor. Perhaps God wants us to treat Him just as we treat others who are there to help us. There are certain things I have been praying for specifically for about ten years, personal tings, the desires of my heart and I still wait on clear answers from God. That doesn’t mean God is not listening and it doesn’t mean God is not moving on my behalf. What it does mean is that I need to continue to pray and while I am at the business of prayer I need to thank Him for His blessings over the past ten years as well.
