9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
KJV
This judgment will take place in heaven immediately after the rapture of the church and is for the Christian. Notice Paul uses the word “We” meaning that he along with all the other born again believers will give an account to Jesus Christ. But what are we being judged for? Not for sin. The sin problem was taken care of at the cross and that forgiveness of sin applied to you when you repented and received the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior. The sin problem has already been judged and Jesus Christ took your place for He was made sin for us. What then is this judgment about? It is a judgment for works, what we did, how we lived, after we were born again. (1 Cor 3:11-15 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.) This is why we labor now, this is why we live in obedience tot eh Word of God now, this is what we strive for in this life, rewards in eternity. Thos living for Jesus will not be ashamed at this judgment but wait with confidence for it, wait with confidence to see Jesus. That is not to say any of us are perfect, I am sure we will see things revealed in heaven that we should not have done as well as things we should have done. One thing for sure though, we ought to live with this time in mind, the time when we will give an account to Jesus for we must ALL appear before the judgment seat of Christ.
