1 John 2:28-3:3
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
KJV
Chapter divisions in our Bible are very important, it would be almost impossible to study the bible without them. But every new chapter does not begin a new thought. We are commanded to abide in Christ in 1 John 2:28 so we will be confident when we see Him and not be ashamed. Ashamed of what? Ashamed of how we have been indifferent to the work of the Lord, been neglectful in serving the Lord, been negligent in Bible reading and prayer to name a few. There is coming a day when we will see Jesus face to face, it could be today, how then will we greet Him and how will He see us? Will He see us as one who have been faithful, or slothful in our Christian walk? Will He see us as an active servant, or one who has been asleep at the switch? What will Jesus find you doing of the trumpet were to sound today? Would you be ashamed, or confident that He will be pleased with you? If we have been made righteous by the blood of Christ we should then live that way. We have been saved to serve and worship, so we should be found in His service worshipping Him. I have a hope and that hope should motivate me in following and living for Jesus Christ.
