John 9:4-5
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
KJV
What should the attitude of the Christian be as we see the day coming when we no longer will be in this world, when we will be with Jesus? It is very easy to just sit and wait for the glory that is coming. After all, we cannot stem the tide of evil, we cannot turn back the hands of time, we can do nothing to save the world. Or can we? There are certainly things that we cannot do in these last days, but there are other things we can do. We can be active witnesses for Christ, we can be active in prayer for the lost, we can be examples of faithfulness and righteousness when so few are found, there are many things we can do and we should be doing them. Notice what Jesus said, “The night cometh, when no man can work.” Any work that is done for the Lord, any rewards to be won, must be won in this world, not in heaven. When that trumpet sounds our work on earth will be done, the book will be closed, and the record sealed. What will the book reveal when it is opened in heaven, what will it show concerning your labor and faithfulness for the Lord? Will it show you an active worker, or one that has been sleeping while it was day?
