1 Thess 4:13-18
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
KJV
One thing we do not have to do is face the sorrows of life without hope as so many apart from Jesus Christ. We will all suffer loss in this life, some more than others, but we all suffer loss in this life. Who do we turn to, where do we turn when the sorrow and loss of death come into our lives. So many are completely distraught that it seems they never recover. But the Christian has hope even in those dark hours when we know that our loved ones were born again, we have a hope that will life us out of the depths of despair. That hope does not make death a good thing, does not lessen the loss in a way, but in another way it does both of those things. What one who has entered into the presence of the Lord is not in a better place than this world? What is bad about pain being taken away, about receiving the complete joy of salvation? Yes, we still miss them and think of them often, but it is with hope. The world has no hope in death but for the Christian that hope is made stronger and more real.
