14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
KJV
To find out valuable time is one needs only to track the English word redeeming in the Bible. That word is found only three times, once in the Old Testament and once in two times in the New Testament. The only use of the word redeeming in the Old Testament is in Ruth chapter four where is speaks of the land that once was the property of Elimelech being redeemed by Boaz on behalf of Ruth and Naomi. Land was a most valuable thing in Israel, perhaps the most valuable outside of salvation. The only two times the word redeeming is used in the New Testament has to do with time. (Col 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.) How valuable is time? Outside of salvation in Christ it is our most valuable possession. Yet today twenty four hours will pass and we will never get those hours back. Think today of how you will spend those hours. Will it be wisely or will many of them simply be wasted?
