14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
KJV
Have you ever stopped to think of how much time is wasted, how much time you waste each day? Now I am not one that believes everything we do must be work related or spiritual as some do. I believe we need time to rest and relax, time for hobbies and the like, but still, we waste too much time. Watching TV, face book, smart phone games, we waste too much time especially in light of what we could be doing. The Bible is giving a wake up call in the above verses, “Awake those that sleepest, and arise from the dead.” What makes that so alarming is that the Bible is speaking to Christians in this passage, not the lost. Is it possible that a born again believer could be viewed as one that is dead? The Bible does just that in verse 14. What was the problem that God was and is addressing? Wasting time. (Verse 16) If this is not a problem in your life then praise God, but for most people, the vast majority of people who claim to know Jesus as their personal savior it is a problem. Track your day today, look for places that you waste time, we will look at the proper use of time this week.
