13 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

Where does the missionary go, where does the church send them? It is not up to the church to send a missionary to a certain place. A missionary will be one called of God to cross cultural and geographical lines in order to share the gospel with those in darkness. Note that they are called and sent by God. It was the Holy Spirit that guided that first missionary team. A church then cannot determine where missionaries go. Some will go to places perhaps in our own nation, some to places known for a need of missionaries, and some to places seldom thought of by most. But it must be God that determines where the missionary goes and that is part of his or her call. Our church cannot say we want to send one to Africa, or China, or any such place, it must be God that determines where the missionary is to go.
