Acts 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

Both of our verses this morning speak of David. What was it that set David apart? Did God just select David and that made him special? Was David perfect, was David sinless? Did David do everything the right way at the right time all the time after he was made king? None of those things are true, so what was it that set David apart? David made a decision, a personal one, that he would pursue the Lord, that he would set the Lord before him and make the effort each and every day to please the Lord. David was a man after the heart of God. Did that ensure a perfect walk? No because the sins of David are recorded for us in the Bible. But David would and did always come back to the Lord, David did ask forgiveness in repentance of his sins, and David was restored by God so he could once again pursue the heart of God. What are you after today? The question is not one of being perfect, of never slipping, of never failing the Lord. But it is one that asks what are you pursuing, what are you after, are you after the heart of God?
