July 7th, 2017 by Pastor Solley1 John 4:7-12 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
KJV
My last thought for the week in loving our brothers and being a help to them concerns our attitude when we do extend ourselves to a brother or sister in need. I was ready for bed last evening and the phone rang, it was someone with a situation, someone in need. This need was not a spiritual need, but a situation in which someone needed help. I dressed, got in the car and had to drive about 40 minutes, was able to lend a hand, and then return home. What was my attitude during this time? Was it one that honored the Lord, did I lend a hand willingly and in love? I am sure that Jesus did not grumble all the way to the cross. (Note verse 10 & 11 above) It was for the joy set before Him that Jesus went to that cross, suffered and died, the joy of putting Himself out for you and me. We need to have a good attitude when we are serving others, just as Jesus gave Himself for us in love and joy.
