2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

There are so many things in and of this world that hinder our walk with the Lord, can hinder our joy in the Lord. Here we are commanded to lay aside those weights, those things that weigh us down. But it is hard at times. Financial worries, family worries, health, the future in front of us, there are a lot of things that can weigh us down. But look at the illustration given here. Who would ever start out in a race, I used to run, and put a weight they did not have to carry on their shoulders? All that would do would be keep one from winning or finishing the race. Instead one would set everything aside they did not need to run in the race, fix their eyes upon the finish, and run. Even in long races where the finish line was miles away, one would just look straight ahead and run. Jesus is standing at the finish line, there may be mountains in front of us, clouds in the sky, we may not be able to see Him, but we still set everything aside and run towards Him. Understand the weights we carry often hinder us from seeing the Savior, set them aside and run to Jesus.
