1 John 1:1-4 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
KJV
When John was born again his life changed and that new life in Christ affected him the rest of his natural life, his joy was full. But how did salvation affect him so much, how did John get so much out of the Christian life? John fell in love. Not in love with a woman, not with the world, not with self, John fell in love with Jesus Christ. The word love is found 38 times in 1, 2, & 3 John. The word love is found another 22 times in the gospel of John. John calls Himself the “Disciple that Jesus loved.” John fell in love. Do you love Jesus? Most who say that they love the Lord carry no outward signs of that love. I love my wife and I do try and carry the outward signs of that love. I spend time with her, I do things that show I care for her like hold doors for her, open car doors and so on. I try not to do things that distress her. I don’t have her serve me like a slave, I try and serve her in ways that I can. There are outward signs of love. How much time do you spend with Jesus each day? Are you on social media more than you are reading your Bible and praying? What do you do for Jesus? Do you spend time talking with Jesus or does it seem you just demand of Him and order Him to do what you want in your prayers? Are there any outward signs of your love for Jesus, or are those just words that you say? John loved Jesus and he had the outward signs to back up his words.
