15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

The word memorial is found 32 times in the Bible, the first is above in verse 15. The last time that word is found is in Acts 4. (Acts 10:4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.) It is good to stop and remember things and people from the past, it is also good to know that God remembers our prayers. Today we stop as a nation to remember and honor all those who have died in defense of this nation. We also remember family members who have passed into eternity. That is what I call to your attention this morning, that all those who have died have stepped into eternity. They have not ceased to exist, they are alive, in heaven or in hell they continue on, only that body is in the grave. I say that to remind you all the importance of being ready for the day that we die, for the day that you are only a memory. Where will you be, where will you spend eternity? The answer to that is determined by what you have done with Jesus Christ. Have you repented from sin and turned to Jesus, have you called out to Him for salvation, have you received Him as your personal savior? When flowers are placed on your grave, when you are a memory on this earth, where will you be?
