19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

There are many professing Christians who want to claim verse 20 of our text, and that is what God wants as well, but they never consider verse 18 of the same passage. Two verses, separated by one, but ones that can leave answered prayer seem so far from a reality in our lives. How many claim to know Jesus Christ, but have no regard for His Word, no desire to be in His house, show no fruit of the Spirit in their lives, walk in sins of commissions and omission, then expect to see answered prayer in their lives? There are times when the answer to prayer may be no, or wait, and then there are times when God wants to answer our prayers and we will not allow Him to do so because of sin in our lives. The Bible is very clear, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:” God is not one we order around when we need something done, not our servant, He is the Almighty God of eternity, the Holy One! If we do not heed His Word, obey Him, and walk with Him, God is not obligated to answer us when we call.
