Heb 2:1-3 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

What makes salvation so great? The price of it. (Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.) From the time sin entered into the world the price for forgiveness and remission has been blood. God had to shed the blood of innocent animals to cover Adam and Eve and in Genesis three the blood line begins that leads all the way to Calvary. Why blood? Many explanations have been given, life in the blood, the need of blood for life, son on and so forth. But the answer lies in Heb 9:22, it is the price set by God and that is explanation enough. But whose blood? If I shed my blood it costs me my life and that cannot be regained. Down there the ages many people have sacrifice their life for others, they remain dead in the grave, their blood spilt and their life lost. But when Jesus Christ went to the cross and shed His blood for others, and it did cost Him His life, He did not remain in the grave, He arose again, he is alive today and forever more. That makes His blood precious blood. (1 Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot) That is the only place that phrase is found in the Bible and it points to the price of redemption, the price for remission of our sin. Salvation is so great because of the high cost of forgiveness of our sin.
