2 Sam 5:19-2319 And David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
20 And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
21 And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.
22 And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
23 And when David inquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

How important is it for us to seek God’s will and guidance everyday and in everything in our lives. That is not a question but a statement. In our text David had won a great victory over his and enemies of God. Then they come up again against him. David had asked God once and had been sent into battle. There would be no need to ask this second time, God wold surly grant a victory in the same why as before. But David did ask again and God this time directed him to wait in verse 23. God went before David this time and there was an even greater victory. Christian we need to seek the will of and walk in the way of the Lord each and ever day. Yet most will get up and go about their business this day without thought to the will and purpose of God in their lives. I wonder how much we miss because we do not enquire of the Lord?
