Rom 8:14-17 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
KJV
As Christians we are made joint heirs with Christ which means we have an inheritance. Did you know that our Christian heritance can be added to? Most of the time when one receives an inheritance that is it, there is nothing to be added to it. Not so with the Christian and our inheritance in Christ. There are things that are ours, things that we are sure of when we get saved. For example we have a mansion being prepared in heaven. (John 14:1-2 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.) According to Jesus that is ours. There is also a place of service set aside for us to stand in with Christ. (Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.) Then there are things we have right now that are a part of our inheritance. Prayer, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, things we receive at salvation. But there are also things that can be added. The Bible speaks of five crown that can be won by the Christian while in this world that will be given to us when we get to heaven. These crowns are given out according to our faithfulness and service to the Lord while here in this world. They are a part of our inheritance, they can add to our inheritance, but not every Christian will be awarded those crowns, only those who faithfully follow the Lord Jesus Christ and serve Him. In that way the inheritance of the Christian is not really complete here and now, but will be made complete in heaven.
