Hag 2:9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.
KJV
What was God’s desire for the people in Haggai’s day? That they give of themselves, their time, energy and money to Him and His work. But to what end? So God could bless them again, so they could walk in the plan and purpose of God again, so they could be seen once again as the apple of God’s eye. God wanted the Temple once again to be the place of light, the place where man could meet with God, the place of blessings. God’s desire was not for Himself, but for them. Nothing has changed today, what is God’s desire for the believer in Christ today? For us to give of ourselves, our time, energy, and money to His work. Not because God needs us or those things from us. Keep in mind that God’s plan and purpose has been carried out for thousands of years without us, but God wants to bless us because we are serving Him, God wants us to be a part of His plan and purpose. What is wrong with living in a finished house? Nothing. But we should not be so concerned with self that we forget about God, we need to get back to the place where we put God and His work first, not last. We need to be giving to the work of the Lord, giving our time, our energy and yes our tithes and offerings.
