December 29th, 2016 by Pastor Solley1 Chron 22:14-17 Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the Lord an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto.
15 Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work.
16 Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the Lord be with thee.
17 David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,
KJV
Here at the end of his life David made things ready for Solomon to take over as king in Israel, things were ready for a new beginning. The enemies of Israel has been defeated in battle, the materials for the Temple were brought to the building site, the table was set for Solomon. Still David did one more thing, he commanded the princes to help Solomon. (Verse 17) Everything was in place for Solomon to be a successful king, even help was secured. We stand at the beginning of the New Year and we have things made ready for our success in living the Christian life in 2017. We gave the Word of God, we have Bible believing churches, we have opportunity to serve and liberty to serve the Lord Jesus Christ, everything is ready. There is one more thing, we also have help. Our greatest help will not come from other believers, our church family, or even the pastor, our greatest help will come from the Holy Spirit of God within. Jesus Christ Himself in John chapters 14 and 16 promises us help in our Christian life and service for Him, that help from the Holy Spirit which indwells each and every born Again believer in Christ. Christian, never use as an excuse for doing wrong or for not doing right that we can’t help ourselves, or that we stand alone. We never stand alone, one is there to help, and we don’t have to help ourselves, the Holy Spirit is there to give us power and also to restrain our flesh. We need to rely on our help in the year to come.
