1 Chron 22:10-12 He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
11 Now, my son, the Lord be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the Lord thy God, as he hath said of thee.
12 Only the Lord give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the Lord thy God.
KJV
David set the stage, it was time for a new era in Israel. Enemies had been fought and defeated, the people united, there was peace on every side, the materials for the Temple had been secured, David set the stage for Solomon to begin his reign. The time was now approaching when Solomon would need to follow the advice of David and follow after the ways of the Lord. We stand just a few days away from a New Year and many look at the turning of the old to the new as a new ear. I wonder if we ever stop to think of how many things have been ready for us to follow in the ways of the Lord, to prosper in this New Year? We have the Bible, we have prayer, we have preaching in good fundamental King James Bible churches, we have freedom to worship, freedom to speak for the Lord Jesus Christ, in many ways the stage has been set for us today as we go into 2017. I believe there is still an open door set before us as Christians to serve the Lord, to build something for the Lord. I know we will never win the world for Christ, but what can we do where we are, what can we build for Him in our lives? Think of all the building blocks that have been set before you today. Solomon could have left everything David laid in store right where it was, but he took those things and he did build the temple. What are you going to build in 2017?
