October 7th, 2016 by Pastor SolleyMatt 3:13-17 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Acts 8:38-39 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

Biblical baptism is always by immersion. The history of sprinkling babies is found in the Roman church and as the reformers came out there were certain practices and traditions they held onto, baptism by sprinkling was and remains one of them. There is nothing in the Bible to support sprinkling babies, not one verse, it is an unbiblical practice. I have had people ask me what it hurts, if it makes parents feel good, what is the harm? The harm is allowing people, at times sincere and trusting people, to believe is something other than the blood of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sin and salvation. That baby is not protected from sin and hell by a few drops of so called holy water being sprinkled on his or her head. My grandchildren, precious boys that they are, are both sinners by nature, sinners by birth. No sprinkling of water can change that, can protect them. My oldest grandson has asked Jesus Christ to come into his heat, to forgive him of sin, and to be his personal savior. I look forward to the day that he completely understands what baptism is and would love to be the one to baptism him, not to be saved or protected, but because he is saved. My youngest grandsons is prayed for everyday and my prayer is that an early age he as well will repent of sin and turn to Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone for salvation. The practice of sprinkling babies, harmless as it may seem to some, has opened the doors of hell to millions and millions of people who are trusting in that act, many times preformed long before they can even remember, to take them to heaven. All it has done is opened a door to hell.
