2 Peter 1:19-21 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
KJV
The phrase “More sure Word” is found only here in the Bible describing the Word of God and specifically the written Word of God. Why is the written Word a more sure prophecy, a more sure Word? It is better than God speaking directly to man through an audible voice, better than dreams and visions, better than hearing from angels, the written word is better. What if God spoke directly to individuals today through an audible voice, what would be the problem? Ever play that game where you whisper something to someone and they pass it on? By the time you get around the room the statement is completely different. Dreams and visions are interpreted by different people in different ways. Satan also has angels at his disposal and they can deliverer false messages. The written Word is better because I can give you the above reference and it doesn’t matter where you are, even when you turn to the page, even if it is 100 years from now, and the Bible will say the same thing. That is another reason to use the God given King James Bible, it has remained unchanged. We do have a more sure Word today.
