21:1 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.
2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.
6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.Sorry about no devotional yesterday. Was out of bed and left for Lancaster PA at 2:30AM and did not return until 3:30PM.
Isn’t it something how many times Christians go about their daily business without thought for the Lord or what God is doing for them? The disciples were out on the sea fishing all the night and caught nothing. At the bidding of Jesus they cast their net into the sea and there was a great catch. As they went about bringing the fish in John finally looked and saw that it was Jesus on the shore. But the first part of this account is what I am thinking about this morning. “The disciples knew not that it was Jesus.” Do you ever think of all that Jesus does for you each day? Of all He did for you yesterday and will do for you today? We get up, dress, eat and go about our business. Do you thank Jesus for getting you through the night and allowing you to get up in the morning? We get in our car and drive long distances or short. Do you thank Jesus for safety. We work the day. Do you thank Jesus for a job and strength to do it? We come home and eat and relax. Do you thank Jesus for home and provision? Do you ever stop and thank Jesus for what He does for you each day?
