Num 2:1-4 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
2 Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father’s house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.
3 And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah.
4 And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.
KJV
A Standard was something that was protected as we have seen this week. It was also something that could be seen. The standard was lifted up above the people and could be seen by all. What do we have that needs to be seen? Jesus said we need to let out light shine. (Matt 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.) The light of Jesus Christy within the born again child of God needs to stand out. Out testimony and lives as Christians are to be used to help bring others to Jesus Christ, we need to let the standard be seen. I do not believe in so called lifestyle evangelism which states that we never need talk to anyone about Jesus, just live the Christian life. Faith cometh by hearing my friend and we need to tell others about Christ, we need to spread the gospel message, the true gospel message. But how many have been turned away from Christ by the ruined testimony of Christians we will never know. And how many Christians could be greater used by the Lord day by day if they would live the life as they should and let their light shine? A standard needs protected, it also needs to be seen.
