Eph 6:10-18 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
KJV
There is a constant battle raging around the believer in Christ, a pitched fight, a fierce war taking place, one in which he or she will be overcome if they are not aware of what is taking place around them. This pastor is reminded of that battle daily with the things the enemy sets before him and the things thrust at him. Our enemy is strong and smart and seeks every opportunity to bring the Christian soldier down in the fight, to maim and to destroy. What can we do in this fight, what can we do to stand? We need to follow the commands given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ, the Captain of God’s army. Above are given to us several pieces of armor to put on, one weapon to take up, and the things that makes those things effective in the fight. Throughout this week I want to look at those things. For today I want to point out the need to be strong. (Verse 6) The way to do that is to exercise. In this spiritual battle we don’t end to do pushups or pull ups, we don’t need to run several miles each day, those things make one strong physically, but we need spiritual strength. That takes exercise as well. It takes a daily time reading our Bible, it takes time meditating upon what we read, it takes prayer, it takes being in the house of God and hearing sound preaching, and it takes the fellowship of the saints. Our daily routine needs to include times of spiritual exercise if we want to be strong in the Lord. Remember Satan walks about as a roaring lion and they always attack the weakest. Be strong in the Lord.
