Phil 3:13-14
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. We stand now at the end of another year. Just one more day in 2009 to accomplish all that we started out to do 12 months ago. I am sure that for all of us there are many things in 2009 that we wish to forget and some things as well that we would like to hold onto.
But what of things that need to be forgotten? (Verse 13) There have been times when we have failed those around us, failed ourselves and failed our Lord in 2009. Unless you had a perfect year that is true of all of us. Some things we will need to let go because they are behind. Nothing should be forgotten to the point that we learn nothing from past mistakes. But we cannot hold onto things to the point that they weigh us down and hinder our growth and service in the Lord. Some things need to be forgotten.
Christian have you taken those failings to Jesus and asked forgiveness> Have you asked Him to give you the strength to rise above them? If you have settled it with the Lord then put it behind you and continue on for Jesus Christ. If you need to settle it with Christ then do it now. Do it today and get ready for a new opportunity, a new year in which to serve our Savior. Some things need to be forgotten because they have been put away and settled with the Lord.
