Job 40:1-8 Moreover the Lord answered Job, and said,
2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
3 Then Job answered the Lord, and said,
4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
6 Then answered the Lord unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

One of the easiest things in this life to do is question God. The Biblical testimony of this man Job is given to us in the first chapter of the book. (Job 1:1, 8 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. 8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?) We know the actions of Job when he was faced with tragedy and trial. (Job 1:22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.; Job 2:10
But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.) But deep within the heart of Job there were questions, questions that Job wanted answered and that I what we see in chapter 40. What one of us today does not from time to time have questions for God? As a Christian, as a husband, a farther, a son and grandson, I could give a long list of questions. Why did my wife and I lose two children, why does she have the two major diseases she has, why did mom die before she was 70, why did some I seemed to need in the church so much as a young pastor go home to be with the Lord at early ages, why have some I trusted so much did me much harm when they left the church, why, why, why? Read all of chapter 40 to get all of God’s answer to Job, but it is summed up in verse 8 of our reading this morning. It is not up to us to tell God what to do or to demand answers of Him, He is God and we are vile men. (Verse 4) That never changes, He is God, He is God, He is God. The next time we are tempted to question God let us remember who God is and who we are.
