Are you conservative or are you a conservative? That seems to be the question of our day, yet many people do not know what a conservative is much less if they are one or not. There is a difference between being a conservative spiritually and politically by the way. One can be a political conservative and not be one spiritually, although I think if one is conservative spiritually they will be one politically. What then is a conservative? I want to begin in the spiritual realm. One who is conservative spiritually begins with a belief that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that God’s Word, not part or even most of it, but all of it is true. There are few who believe that today. Just believing that the Bible is God’s Word, that there is a God, that there is a heaven and hell, that Jesus is God’s Son and that He died on the cross is not enough evidence to show one is a conservative spiritually. Do you believe every Word of God is pure? That all of God’s Word is true, and that God has not changed His Word or His mind on things today? That is what the above verses state. A conservative then will have no doubts about creation, about marriage being between one MAN and one WOMAN, about abortion being murder, about one plan of salvation through ONE savior who is the Lord Jesus Christ. A true conservative will not only believe the Bible, they will practice what they believe. When a dispute comes up between others and the Bible, or even themselves and the Bible, they will believe the Bible and they will follow God. Ask yourself today if you are a conservative, and then what kind. Our nation needs more political conservatives for sure, but what it needs most are more spiritual conservatives.
