May 6th, 2016 by Pastor SolleyJohn 17:1-4 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
KJV
Finally it was the cross. When Jesus announced “It is finished” from the cross salvations work was done, it was finished. That phrase “It is finished” is found two times in the Bible, the other in James 1:15, and both have to do with sin. It was sin that put Jesus Christ on that cross, not His ours. It was love that held Him there and it was power that brought Him forth from the grave three days later a living savior. Yes, Jesus Christ finished the work the Father gave Him to do, He died for all that all might live with Him. Salvation is not for a chosen few, but for each and every individual ever born into this world. The questions becomes one of who will believe, repent and receive the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray you are not working for your salvation this morning, but that you are resting in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Jesus finished the work given to Him of the Father.
