April 29th, 2016 by Pastor SolleyTitus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
1 Tim 3:7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
1 Tim 5:24-25 Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
25 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
KJV
One cannot maintain good works without maintaining a good testimony before those who are without. (1 Tim 3:7) I can’t lie, cheat, steal, use foul language, tell off color jokes, do all the things that the lost do and have a good testimony among them and if I don’t have a good testimony I cannot be used of the Lord in any way. How can I witness to someone about the Christian life if I am living in the world, walking in sin? How can I tell an individual about the change Jesus can make in their life if my life shows no change? There is an old saying that states “You can’t run with a skunk and smell like a rose”. I will never be able to maintain any good work for God until I have a good report, a good testimony before the lost. What is your testimony in your school, in your workplace, at the Wal-Mart, at the family gathering, what is your testimony before the lost, Thousands of years ago a man in Babylon had one thing the lost could find against him, he just walked too close to the Lord. Can people see your good works because of your good report?
