Gen 20:11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.

The reason the lost do not fear God is because they do not know God, the reason the professing believer has no or little fear of God is the same, they do not know God. The reason many do not know Him is because they spend so little time with the Lord. We will spend hours a day watching the TV, or on the PC, or on the cell phone, but how little time we spend with God. As a pastor I should have all the time I need to spend with God, to be reading and meditating on His Word, to be in prayer, to just spend time with God. But I do know how busy a person can get, and then how much time can be wasted, and the one left out is the Lord. More and more I am being convinced that we need to spend more and more time with God. What would be the problem with shutting everything off, TV, PC, cell phone, any listening device, and just being quiet before the Lord, just spending time with the Lord? Nothing we say, but when was the last time you did that? When was the last time you read your bible and then just sat quiet before God with no distractions? When was the last time your were so deep in prayer that nothing else mattered? For most they will not be able to remember the last time that happened. And then we wonder why we don’t know God and why for most there is no real fear of God. Try spending some real time with God today, try getting to know God.
