Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
KJV
A few words of caution about coming boldly before the throne of grace this morning. While we have access to the throne room of God through Jesus Christ, while God wants to hear from us, wants us to ask anything of Him, there are some things we must remember. God is still on the throne, not us. God is the one who knows the end of all things, not us. God is the one who does all things well, not us. God is righteous and true, not us. We are never to come before the throne of grace in a manner that allows us give orders to God, we are to come before Him humbly and with reverence. We are not to put our interest above that of God, we need to pray for His will to be done. There are many things God could give us of we ask, perfect health, wealth, power and the like, but would these things help us love and serve Him, or would they cause us to forget Him and wonder away? We need to pray in a way that honors God and not ourselves. In other words do I pray for people to get close to God, to give their lives to Jesus Christ fully so they will come to the church I pastor, or so they will serve Christ wherever He wants them to. God needs to be honored in their lives, not our church and certainly not this pastor. Again, in a few moments I will ask God for miracles, but to what end? It should be for His honor and in His will. I can and will come boldly before the throne of grace, but it needs be done in the right way.
