March 30th, 2016 by Pastor SolleyActs 1:9-14 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.
13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

What to do as we begin our work for the Lord in telling others about Christ? One thing we see the disciples doing and then the early church as well is getting together. None of them worked a man or individual apart, none of them were left to be an island unto self. There is a movement today to do away with the local church, saying that it is no longer needed and in many situations is so far away from God that it cannot be effective in serving the Lord. The latter may be true in many cases, but the former is not. They needed to with those of like precious faith as they began to serve the Lord. They needed the comfort of hearts knit together, the strength that comes from standing together, the directions that comes with prayer. They needed those things and we do as well today. There are no perfect churches, but God continues to work through the local church today and will until the rapture of the church. What better way to tell others about the Lord than through the local church, through its ministries, and by going out two by two and telling others about Christ?
