Acts 1:7-11 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

One thing we are not to do while we wait for the return of the Lord is just stand looking up. I often think the disciples may have spent the rest of their lives looking up to heaven, and why not? That is where Jesus went, it is where they wanted to be, it is where they belonged as a child of God, why not look up? Because looking up would get nothing done down here. We need to look up at our Savior, look up for power, look up for direction, look up for everything we need in this world. But we can’t spend so much time looking up that we get nothing done for the Lord. That was the danger for those eleven as they watched the Lord ascend into heaven, that they would spend so much time looking up they would get nothing done in this world. Jesus had told them that the fields were ready for harvest and they were the workers, it was now time to go to work, or at least get ready to go. Are you ready to do a work for the Lord? Keep looking up, but we need to look around also and do a work for the Lord. More tomorrow.
