2 Peter 3:1-5 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
KJV
The Bible tells us here that we need to be mindful of the words which were spoken, mindful of the Word of God. (Verse 2) There are many scoffers today, many who are willingly ignorant, that is they purpose to be ignorant of the Word of God. (Verse 5) That is not to be true of the Christian, of those who profess to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior, we are to be mindful. That is not an easy task today when at every turn we meet those who are willingly ignorant. Our government and highest courts tell us the Bible has nothing to say about the beginning of life or marriage, so it is OK to murder babies in the womb and for men to marry men, women to marry women. Most churches and all denominational churches have set aside the true Bible in favor of perversions of the truth. Few recognized preachers will speak out against those sins, most have chosen not to offend so they can continue with large congregations and high salaries. How small is the minority that will be mindful of the words spoken before of the holy prophets? Yet one must remain a part of that minority no matter how small it becomes. God never promised in His Word large numbers, but He has promised to stand with a remnant, a small number who choose to be mindful. Let us be a part of that number who are mindful of the words once spoken.
