Name after name we are given in this chapter of the generations of Adam with no detail until we get to a man named Enoch. (Verse 22, 24) This is the Godly line, the one extending to Noah and then his sons after him. Why would just one man be pointed out when all of them were men of faith, why just Enoch pointed out? Because of his great testimony and walk with the Lord, Enoch was a man who pleased God and walked with God. How we need men of God with testimonies like Enoch today, men who will just walk with God. I wonder when people hear your name, what is the first thing they think about? I was sitting at a high school basketball game a few weeks ago and a man asked me “Are you a Solley?” I did not know this man, never met him before, but he turned to another man sitting beside him and said “This is the preacher at Cherry Corner.” Then he went back 40 years in time and said that I was a high school football player, a baseball player and so on, that he had watched me in high school and after as well and that he knew my father. It was good to reminisce, but what I was most pleased with was that he introduced me first as the preacher at Cherry Corner Bible Church. I am no Enoch, I do not have a spotless life or testimony, but it is good to be thought of first as a man that knows Jesus.
