For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

I want to look this morning at a second key in growing in the Lord found is Psalm 37. Yesterday we saw that we are to trust, this morning take note that we are delight in the Lord as well. (Psalm 37:4) When we think of delighting in anything we think of taking joy and pleasure in those things. That meaning applies here but there is something else here as well. The Hebrew word translated delight in this passage means to be pliable. In other words we are allowing the Lord to shape us and mold us into what he wants us to be. No longer do we want to choose our own ways, follow our own desires, now we want to be made into His image, given His desires, be molded by Him. We are never in this world a completed product, God is always at work shaping us, molding us, taking away that which hinders us, adding that which allows us to grow in Him. We need to trust Him to grow, then we need to allow Him to mold us into His image, make us what he wants us to be. When this is our delight we grow in the Lord.
