Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
KJV
Another reason people are so unthankful is because they are covetous. These things build one upon another, selfishness, self-centered, pride, and not covetous. Being covetous does not mean one is in want, or even deprived, it means they are unsatisfied and always wanting more, always wanting what others have. My parents worked hard for everything they had. We never had an over abundance growing up, but always had what we needed. As a result of all those years of hard work they were able to enjoy a few things in their latter years. Better cars to drive as I remember so many nights working to keep cars going when I was young, just holding the light for dad so he could get to work in the morning. A home paid off, not a mansion, but a home. Then vacations they were able to take. Later dad was able to buy his dream boat, a big truck to pull it, but these things came as a result of a lifetime of hard work. People today want those things right away, two new cars, a huge new home, all the toys one can get, and as a result they are never satisfied with what they have, are never thankful. I am thankful that my parents taught me the value of hard work, to work for what you need, to get what you can afford and be satisfied. That type of mind set helps one be thankful for what they have and does not leave them always wanting more.
