Ps 146:1-5 Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul.
2 While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

Doesn’t God want me to be happy? That is a question I have heard hundreds of time as a pastor over the years. Usually when an individual asks that question it is used as an excuse to sin. People are convicted of sin, confronted by sin, and instead of confessing before God and repenting they ask “Doesn’t God want me to be happy?” God does want us to be happy, but that happiness does not lie in sin or a walk apart from Him. We see in our text that happiness comes when we have a right relationship with God, when God is our help and hope. One place we should look when happiness seems to elude us is within to see of our walk with God is what it needs to be. Are you walking with the Lord this morning? Happiness will follow.
