A key ingredient to revival is the Word of God. In out text it is the Word of the Lord that sparks revival, it was after the speech of the Lord was heard that the prayer for revival was offered up. One reason people seem to lack a zeal for God today, one reason they are in such need of revival is that they seldom hear God speak. Very few people take the time each day to read and meditate upon the Word of God. There are so many things we need to do, so many other sounds that catch our ear, that God’s Word is left out. Most Christians will spend ten times the about of time watching TV or listening to the music of the world each day than they will reading the Bible if they read the Bible at all. In Israel times of deep darkness followed the neglect of the bible, the same in world history as the dark ages were a result of the Bible being taken from man. How can we expect anything less in our personal lives if we fail to spend time in the Bible each day? Do you want personal revival? Then pick up the Bible, read it, heed it, meditate upon the Word of God today and everyday. That is the first step to personal revival.
