Num 5:8
8 But if the man have no kinsman to recompense the trespass unto, let the trespass be recompensed unto the Lord, even to the priest; beside the ram of the atonement, whereby an atonement shall be made for him.
Ruth 2:1
2 And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.
When one thinks of a redeemer one needs to think of being lost and being bought back. One then needs to seek that one who is able to pay the price of redemption. These verses from the Old Testament point to a kinsman redeemer, a relation to the one who was in debt and one able to purchase the possession, buy it back, or pay the price that was owed. Boaz was a near kinsman to Naomi and when he wanted to marry Ruth he had to pay the debt owed by the family. Our redeemer must be able and willing to pay the price of our redemption as well as being a kinsman. Christ is our near kinsman as we are all created by God the Father, God is the giver of all life. Now, is Christ willing and able to be our redeemer. Able is being able to satisfy the claims of God upon us and pay the sin debt that is owed. Christ is able to satisfy the holy claims of God being God in the flesh so that is taken care of. What abut the payment for sin? That payment is blood. This goes all the way back to the Garden of Eden when the blood trail that leads to the cross begins, Christ would give His blood, shed His blood for our sins. Was Christ willing to do that. No man took the life of Jesus, He gave His life willingly for our sins.
